Keeping your setup consistent will ensure your readings are as precise as possible. Follow our steps below
For those using Proxy Power in particular, ensuring your turbo setup is the same for every session is cruical to ensuring your results data stays consistent and precise. A quick 30 second setup check before every session is advised.
What to do: Pick a pressure and ensure your tyre is always inflated to this pressure before every training session.
Why its helpful: A change in tyre pressure can change the resistance against the turbo roller. This could have an impact on the proxy power calculation. Keep it the same every time to avoid this.
What to do: If you remove your bike from the turbo between sessions, ensure you tighten the roller to the same pressure against the tyre each time
Why its helpful: A change in roller pressure can effectively change the resistance of the turbo trainer. This could have an impact on the proxy power calculation. Keep it the same every time to avoid this.
What to do: Use the same tyre for every session. Keep in mind that a turbo will wear out a tyre quicker than the road
Why its helpful: A change in tyre can alter the effective resistance. This could have an impact on the proxy power calculation. Keep it the same every time to avoid this.
What to do: Some turbo trainers alter their resistance as they warmup over the 1st 10-15 minutes. Ideally perform the same warmup before each workout. All of our workouts come with a comprehensive 10-15 minute warmup so this shouldnt be a problem
Why its helpful: When a turbo warms up it could alter its resistance up or down depending on if its wind, magnetic or a fluid trainer. Performing the same type of warmup each time will ensure things stay consistent for the proxy power calculation to work as best as possible
